My partner and I watched the first Puppet Master and had to watch the second right away in hopes we might get some questions answered. The first will get it's own review at some point if I can stomach watching it again. Puppet Master 2 has the same glossy look to it that the first one did. It reminds me of Prom Night (1980). This was directed by David Allen who is a prominent effects producer. He does not have a lot of director credits but lots of great special effects credits. The characters are bland and not worth caring about, and they are played like they are in a soap opera. The dolls are just as creepy as they were in the original. Each one is unique and they are the highlight of the film. Really, they are the only thing interesting in the whole series. This one has more puppets and backstory. It may not be perfect, but is less ambiguous than the first. This is one of the those movies that makes you question whether or not it's meant to be a joke. This is a 5 out of 10. There is very little that stands out, though I feel like this franchise had a lot of potential. I guess check it out and see for yourself.
